Loving where you live; it’s a sentiment that unfortunately, not everyone can embrace. As someone that feels a strong pull towards nature, I soak in and appreciate this feeling every morning.  I am a better, calmer, more inspired version of myself when surrounded by birds and trees, sunsets and open spaces, and the priviledge to live in Grey Highlands is a blessing that’s not lost on me for one minute.

When I created Georgian Bay Jewels, it came together slowly, nudged by memories of moments in our friends’ waterfront backyard. It came from a hundred different sunsets that I’ve taken in over the last few years in this region. It started in abstract representation, then paddled in the direction of realism, finally landing somewhere in the middle as a contemporary showcase of an evening moment that I’m sure many neighbours have witnessed at the close of a summer day.

“Georgian Bay Jewels” seemed to be the perfect name to assign to a piece that displays the specacular interplay of colours, light and texture from a lakeside vantage in Collingwood, Thornbury, Meaford, or any of the other surrounding sweet spots.
